Wheel Thrown Pottery - Classes for Beginners
(No experience necessary)
Four classes make up the "beginner" series
First Class
1. Includes review of the course syllabus
2. Instruction of the use of the pottery wheel
3. Preparation of the clay - wedging
4. Centering the clay on the wheel
5. Making cylinders
Second Class
1. Trimming the cylinders to create a foot for the cylinder
2. Pulling handles
3. Attaching handles to the cylinder
4. The student will have mugs, pitchers or vases by the end of the second class
Third Class
1. Making bowls on the pottery wheel
2. Continuation of making cylinders and handles
Fourth Class
1. Glazing completed bisqued work
2. Completion of all outstanding pieces
3. The student may need to return to the studio to glaze any final pieces following the fourth class
Class fee: $135
Class fee includes: clay, glazes, firings, class syllabus and studio practice time on Saturdays from 10:30am to
4:00pm
Not included: Pottery tools - tools are available for purchase at the Mustard Seed Gallery

Wheel Thrown Pottery & Handbuilding Classes
Experienced Potters
Pottery classes for the experienced potter include individualized lesson plans based on the expressed learning goals of the potter. Students are encouraged to select and practice specific forms to advance their throwing and handbuilding skills. Lesson plans have addressed: teapots, casseroles, platters, altered forms, lidded jars, pitchers, large forms and glazing.
Classes begin during the first weeks of each month with the exception of December. Please refer to the class schedule for specific dates.
Class fee: $135/ month or $330/ three months
Class fee includes: clay, glazes, firings, lesson plans, studio practice time on Saturdays from 10:30am to
4:00pm
The registered student will also have allocated gallery space at the discretion of the owner
